Season kickoff and Club News.

Hello everyone and to paraphrase 'Game of Thrones'. finally Summer is Coming.  It is with this good news that I would like to report some information in regards to the direction of the Club for this season.

First of all , we are no longer affiliated with the Ontario Cycling Association.  The executive decided to seek other insurance coverage because of the rapid and substantial rise in rates from the OCA.  Our coverage is now broader and considerably cheaper, resulting in a reduction of membership fees.  This cost saving has been passed on to the members by way of a $20.00 reduction to our previous membership charge.

Secondly, it is with great pleasure to announce that there will be a greater emphasis on the group ride and touring side to the Club.  Penny Tallman and Gord Lefebvre have done a fantastic job in organizing a proposed 5 date touring schedule running from May to September taking riders from distances of 80 to 120 plus kms.  All levels of ability will be welcome.  As well, we will continue to hold weekly rides from the parking lots adjacent to Total Cyclery.  All riders welcome here also.

Finally we are pleased to announced starting this season that the membership fees will be waived by the Club for all members serving on the executive.  It is hoped that this will inspire new people to not just participate in the events but also give a hand in the organizing and healthy functioning of the Cornwall Cycle Club.

The new event calendar will be out this week but the racing season starts this Saturday.

Time to get those legs a moving. The season kicks off with:

The Small Ring Road Race, Saturday April 6th
Location: St. Andrews Parking Lot.
Time: 12:00 noon
Duration: 42 kms. Two upper loops. Here is link to the Upper Loops: Upper Loop at Harrison's Corners
Rules: #1. Never enter the big ring (Compact crank riders - open to negotiation)
#2. Be a member of the Cornwall Cycle Club.

See you on Saturday. Bring the pain.
